Who has had a cold?

If you did, how'd you treat it? I'm all about skipping meds as long as possible, so if you have any advice, that would be fab!

Cold and pregnancy = not fun.

P.S. I'll call my doctor when I think I need to, I'm just curious right now

Ugh, I've been dealing with one since last Wednesday afternoon. It started as a tickle and turned into a full-blown sore throat by night. Thursday I was miserable and sneezing with the sore throat/hoarse voice so tried my hardest to take a lot of fluids. I used regular menthol/halls drops (no more than the package said which is shockingly one every 2 hours!!!). Regardless I had to call of friday and stayed in bed eating popsicles all day. Now I am SO mucusy it's making me nauseous. Ugh. No amount of nose blowing or awful snorting works. Ick!

It's also moved into my chest today and I have that nasty crackly cough. So far I've gotten away with just the cough drops for the sore throat but it SUCKS big time that's for sure. Having a cold while pregnant is some sort of cruel and unusual punishment.

Me!!!

Not fun at all. I love to knock myself out with Nyquil so I can sleep, but I'm just bearing it all.

I've been drinking a bunch of water, relaxing and sleeping. Cough drops have helped too.

I'm taking Sudafed which was okayed by my Dr.

It sucks having a cold, BUT I found an interesting perk....for 2 days I couldn't smell or taste anything, which kept me from being as nauseas as I usually am - I even successfully went to a restaurant for dinner! Usually all the different food smells are too much to handle.

I just got over a nasty cold. Lots of rest, fluids and I was a big fan of hot water, lemon and honey. Feel better!

OMG, I was going to post something about this today but you beat me to it! I have a TERRIBLE cold, just caught it this weekend. Went in to work for 2 hours today and had to go home. This sucks!! I wish I could just self-medicate, lol, but obviously I'm doing the old fashioned fluids & rest routine. Might try the neti-pot, regardless of how creepy that seems...any ounce of relief is welcomed!!

I got a cold right after I found out I was pregnant. Lots of fluids, nasal spray and a little tylenol helped me get through. And spicy food to clean out my sinuses. The Neti-pot didn't do anything for me as I was completely stuffed up so nothing could get through. It wasn't fun, but I made sure it didn't get down into my chest or turn into a sinus infection as that would be a lot harder to clear up. My doctor also approves of Robitussin DM, with the real pseudephedrine, but I didn't get to the point where I needed to take it.

Feel better ladies!! Take care of yourselves! A little rest goes a long way!

I've been dealing with a cold since last Friday (DH had it the weekend before). So far, I've only taken tylenol and used chloroseptic for the sore throat. I'm sooo miserable.

This totally creeps me out too!!!

I tried the saline nose spray during my last pregnancy and it made me MORE congested...

I will occasionally suck on a zinc drop. not too often since they can have a strong flavor.

I have been sick with cold/flu for about a week and a half now, and as I suspected, untreated its starting over again from the beginning with another sore throat! I am going to the OB tomorrow anyway for a check up and they said they can give me some antibiotics which are SAFE for baby! Did you know that you CAN take them when pregnant??? I am so excited to feel better! Hehe
