frustrated

I'm sure it is the pregnancy coming out in me but I am very frustrated with my friends.  My SIL's are throwing me a baby shower in 2 weeks and all of my friends made a big deal about coming at first....now everyone is bailing!  I guess I am just hurt and a little embarrassed that basically none of my friends will end up coming to my shower.  I even went to a friends bridal shower last weekend out of town while having a wedding to go to the same day, in a different town.  I know people are busy but C'mon!

    It is sad when you can't count on your friends.  I understand you feeling hurt but don't feel embarrassed.  Your friends should be the ones who are embarrassed - especially if you made the effort to attend their functions but they can't do the same for you.  Maybe they will change their minds or work things out and be able to come afterall.  Enjoy the people that DO come!

    Ditto pp, don't feel embarassed or frustrated. You will have guests there and have a nice shower with or without them. I'd be embarassed if I couldn't make it to a friend's shower and she came to my other events.

    Ok, so this is super b!tchy of me, but I am kind of glad I am one of the first of our friends to have done this stuff (wedding, now baby). Because I know if people celebrate with me- and if they don't, I don't put as much effort into their celebrations as I would have if they'd bothered showing up for my shower.

    I know it shouldn't be tit-for-tat, but I remember who comes to showers and who doesn't. And sometimes it does affect the effort I may put into their celebrations.

    Obviously, there are always exceptions.

    It's totally understandable. I did have almost all my friends bale out on me on my bday party last year so it's not just the pregnancy. It's just common courtesy to show up to someone's party if you said you were going to. I'm more mad at my mom right now for inviting a ton of people I've never even met to my shower.
