Taking LO's temperature question...

Is taking LO's temperature rectally the most accurate? My MIL claims that it is always a degree or two higher when taken rectally. Somehow I don't believe her. Is she right?

That is correct....rectally is most accurate and if you take it any other way the rectal will be higher...one or two degrees higher. ask your pedi if you don't believe it.

She is correct, but I am fairly certain (not positive) it is only one degree higher.

Thanks ladies. I knew rectal was the most accurate, I guess it just surprised me that it was still off by a degree or two.
