Was your DC planned?

I got this question quite a bit when I was pregnant, and I always found it pretty rude bc I feel like if someone is announcing a pregnancy, what does it matter if it was planned or not (FWIW, DS was planned).

So, it got me thinking, were you trying to have a child or was DC a pleasant surprise?

Yes he was, but I told work he was not. It was terrible timing at work; I thought it would take longer than it did.

I always want to ask that, but I try to keep my mouth shut. The reason why I want to know varies depending on the situation of the person who is pregnant . The answer will give me a clue as to how to respond to said announcement.

I was shocked at how many people asked me that!

Yes ours was planned. We had been not preventing because we were OK with whatever happened. We decided to really start trying and I started temping and charting. I got pregnant on our 3rd month of really trying.

Well, we weren't actively charting and having sex on specific days to get pregnant. But we weren't preventing conception. We were a "lets see what happens" type of couple.

We weren't "trying", but we weren't not trying either...does that makes sense? We knew we wanted one and we just went with the flow.

Kind of...we were charting to TTA and one day I thought I might be ovulating and we didn't "prevent" Turns out, I did O and we conceived. I thought it would have taken much longer also, so it was a surprise in that it happened so quickly.

It was the only time in 7 months of charting that we didn't either use a condom or abstain during my fertile days. Hopefully the 2nd time around happens as easily.

Completely planned, both of them. Charting and all that jazz.

We had DD2 planned to the point that we really wanted a March baby and got one.

Everyone thinks we eloped because I was pregnant but we had planned our wedding 4 months prior... We knew we sould stop trying not to have a baby the day we were married... 9 months later... We got our wedding night baby!

I say we were semi-planned. We didn't think it was going to stick so soon. DH and I talked about having a baby really soon, but going on a big trip before. I stopped BC to let my body regulate. One night Dh and I were messing around and saying how we really wanted a baby. We had sex unprotected and said "if it happened it was meant to be", well it did.

Weren't trying for #2 but it took 5 months for #1 of actively trying. That being said, #2 happened quickly after getting caught up in a moment as quite a surprise!

Not planned at all. We were TTA by charting, using condoms, and backing it all up with spermicide.

DS was planned - we tried for about a year, during which time I had a m/c and after much testing on both of us we found out that we were dealing with MFI, so we persued IVF and were fortunate to get pg on our first round.

I charted, used sperm friendly lube and took my temperature on a daily basis for 7 cycles before I got my BFP. So yeah she was planned.

Just a little bit planned... My DH calls DS our science experiment. I charted for 9 months prior, drank gallons of green tea, took Vitex and B6, used OPKs, the whole 9 yards and got pregnant on our 1st month trying. Not sure if we are super fertile or if any of those things really helped.

Yes, but postponed a few times. First, we wanted to wait until after grad school. Then, I took students to Greece and I wanted to wait until after that. Two weeks after getting home, Snuggle was created!
