Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Those with a LO that crawls...question for you

Lately, our LO has been getting on all fours with her arms straight and her legs in a froggy-like position. She hops forward but she doesn't understand the idea of moving her arms yet, so she often ends up face planting into the blanket.
She scoots around a little on her stomach but we rarely do tummy time (she lasts less than 2 minutes before she cries) so any time in this position or the "froggy"/all fours positions are short lived. Also, she likes to push her hips off the ground while laying on her back and then will push herself around the area with her feet.
She's been sitting unassisted for over a month.

Does this sound like she's going to be crawling soon? I'm asking because I've got a lot to do around here in terms of baby proofing before we start having a mobile child. Obviously, she's bound to crawl at some point but do you think there's still quite a bit of time before that happens or does it sounds like it's going to be sooner rather than later?

Re: Those with a LO that crawls...question for you

  • I'd say you have at least a few weeks. DS just started crawling in the past day or two. He started like your LO and was like that for a couple weeks. Then he would get up on all fours, rock back and forth like crazy. Then he would start dragging his body, now yesterday and today he started "real" crawling where he picks up a hand moves it forward, picks up his leg moves it forward, picks up his other hand moves it forward, etc. Everyone's lo goes at a different rate though - but I'd say you have at least a few weeks.
