Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Not knowing the words to baby songs

This is what I just heard coming from the other room - DH singing to DD: "Do do do do... do do do... E-I-E-I-O. With a meow meow here and a meow meow there... lots of animals on a farm... E-I-E-I-O". I'm almost peeing my pants laughing... but it's soooo cute! Although, I can't laugh too much because I know I butcher a lot of songs. I make up the weirdest things that "mama's gonna buy" her when I sing hush little baby. Who else has songs completely wrong when they sing to LO?

Re: Not knowing the words to baby songs

  • Haha...that's how my DH is.  He swears the itsy bitsy spider dies at the end and that's how he sings the song to her!
  • Loading the player...
  • haha, that's cute!  I seem to make up my own songs-literally lol.  I'll start randomly singing about what i'm doing, etc. to him....oh man, he's going to grow up and think everything's a musical!

  • I sing a song to DS every night to fall asleep, and SO can't ever remember the words so he just makes up words to the song. its soo cute to see him try
  • This is me! I'm always making up words because I can never remember the lyrics. DH is actually better than me. Sometimes we sing our conversations when we're trying to get DS to sleep.

  • DH loves to tell everyone we know how I make up the words to DD's songs. I don't know any of them. I just sing them as I think they should be. One more aspect of parenting I know nothing about Wink
  • Cute.  you will know them all soon enoughSmile

  • Oh boy.  You know that song, "Skip to my loo?"

Yeah, well, I caught DH singing, "Skip to the loo."  And he defending it, saying it was an english song about running to the bathroom.

That resulted in a smile, nod, then run two rooms away so I could quietly cackle to myself.

  • You would not believe the things that are on the bus!

Other than wheels, the driver, and the mommas and babies, I don't know what's supposed to be there!  There's always puppies on our bus going woof woof woof and banjos on the bus going plink plank plonk and cows on the bus mooing. I would hate to be on our bus.

I do this too.  I blame my grandparents who turned everything into a song.

  • The Ol'MacDonald that we know has a very diverse farm; with elephants and lions and dolphins and whales and anything else we can think of.

  • I made up my own bath time song because he gets his baths before bed. I will share. I hope you enjoy.

Remove your shirt and we took your diaper off
Grab you favorite towel cause its really really soft
head to the bathroom its your favorite time of night
turn on the faucet and get the temperature just right

Fill up the tub and you climp on in
Lay your head back thats where we'll begin
Scrub your little tushy and scrub your little feet
Get under those arms and get you smelling so sweet

Bathtime bathtime is so much fun
One more rinse and we're all done
Grab that towel and wrap up tight
Dry baby off and say good night!

Your little hands wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight Your little eye lids flutter cause your dreamin so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light To you everything's funny, you've got nothing to regret I'd give all I have hunny, if you could stay like that Oh darling dont you ever grow up, dont you ever grow up, just stay this little Oh darling dont you ever grow up dont you ever grow up, it could stay this simple I wont let nobody hurt you, wont let no one break your heart, no one will desert you Just try to never grow up imageimage Pregnancy Ticker Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

I totally do this too. All the time. Without even realizing it. I catch myself doing it in public, and then I realize how crazy I must seem! But it makes LO smile, so c'est la vie!

Seriously.  Liam will probably visit a farm one day, and be very disappointed when there are no dragons.

Yeah DHs farm has hippos and giraffes... random animals that don't make noises (stomp stomp and chew chew if you're wondering, haha). Jamie, what noise does a dragon make? :)

  • Hahaha!  I love it!  I do this too!  Like PP, I'll share a few:

(Sang to the "Camptown Ladies" tune)

Oh, fat tum babies sing this song

    Do Da Do Da

Fat tum babies sing this song

    Oh Do Da Day

Fat tum babies sing this song

    Do Da Do Da

Fat tum babies sing this song

    Oh Do Da Day

    Gonna eat all night

    Gonna eat all day

Oh I put my money on that warm bottle

    Somebody feed my right away!

(Sang to the "Oh Christmas Tree" tune)

    Oh Joci-Bug, Oh Joci-Bug

    How pretty are your tosies

    Oh Joci-Bug, Oh Joci-Bug

    How pretty are your tosies

    You've got pink cheeks

    And your eyes are blue

    You've got brown hair

    A fat tummy too

    Oh Joci-Bug, Oh Joci-Bug

    How pretty are your tosies!

I'm pretty sure DH thinks I'm crazy, and I probably should lay off the fat jokes lol

me too.  i've done this for years with our dogs- it's a disease ;-)  we also googled the lyrics for a lot of the nursery rhymes, and frankly most of them are a little creepy (like the woman who swallowed the fly- i guess she'll die...)  at least my made up songs are happy!

That song works like magic when I want Liam to calm down and let me clip his nails.  I changed the lyrics to, "Oh my!" instead of the dying part, and the horse part to "That worked, of course!"
