- Have you ever been to Disneyland or Disneyworld?
- If you plan to take your kiddo(s), at what age?
- What is your favorite ride and why?
- Who is your favorite Disney character/princess?
- What Disney movie do you remember most from childhood?
We are going to Orlando in November and I am amazed at how many people have an opinion on whether or not we should take DS to Disneyworld. We?re not, because this is a visit to see family.
Re: Just for fun - POLL TIME!!!!!!!!!
1. Both (Disneyland as a child, Disneyworld both then and more recently).
2. Not really sure. If I took them, I'd want the cost to be justified by the experience, and we'll play it by ear as to when "Disney" would be better/worth the travel/extra cost compared to local attractions.
3. My favorite ride was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Favorite current ride is MGM's Tower of Terror (assuming 'Disney' encompasses all 4 of their parks in Orlando).
4. I was never a particularly huge fan of any of the characters, specifically.
5. Wasn't actually much of a fan of the movies as a kid, either. The Lion King came out when I was a camp counselor and we took the kids to a special showing, and I thought that movie was hilarious at times.
I like Disney (the corporation) in general. I consider them fairly socially responsible as far as megacorporations go (i.e., Gay Day), and find their parks to really pay a lot of attention to detail. The engineering and design that went into them is also pretty amazing to me (the underground tunnel system, some of what they are doing now with human response CGI, etc.)
1. Disneyworld
2. Probably will take them when they are 5+
3. I loved the Haunted Mansion. Guess I liked being scared.
4. Belle - because she was a bookworm
5. I remember seeing Beauty and the Beast in the theater with mom, sister and best friend, but we watched a lot of the old non-animated ones at home on VHS - Herbie, Parent Trap, Gnomemobile
1. I used to WORK at DisneyWorld! Yes, I loved it, and yes I have also been to Disneyland, but not since I was a kid.
2. I want to take her NOW but I think we're going to wait til she's 3 ish.
3. Favorite ride- Tower of Terror, or Aerosmith ride, or the Jungle Cruise!
4. Favorite princess- Cinderalla (I think she's the prettiest), but I also love Jasmine and Ariel.
5. The Little Mermaid and the Lion King both came out when I was 12 ish, and I have 2 little sisters that watched them alllll the time over and over again. So I have a soft spot for those 2 movies.
1. Only Disneyland
2. Probably when my LO is a bit older, probably 4 or 5 years old. We live an hour away right now and might move closer but my LO still needs his nap so making the trek up there isn't worth it to me unless we can stay the whole day.
3. I love Indiana Jones and Pirates.
4. Cinderella of course!
5.I don't think it is Disney but the original Parent Trap Movie.
On a fun side note. I work not too far from Disneyland, once a year we get free passes from my boss and we go ride some rides and have lunch there and get back to the office just in time to go home. Sometimes I feel guilty knowing I spent part of my work day there without LO but in a few years I know I will get to share it with him.
I LOVE Disneyworld - I have not been to Disneyland but I have been to Disneyworld multiple times!
2. If you plan to take your kiddo(s), at what age?
Maybe 5 or 6. I want him out of diapers and stollers but still young enough to experience the magic of Disney.
3.What is your favorite ride and why?
Pirates of the Carribbean - it's the first ride that we went on when I was 9 and it's been my favorite ever since. Soaring (in Epcot) is pretty cool too - the Haunted Mansion is up there as well.
4. Who is your favorite Disney character/princess?
I love Eyeore!
5. What Disney movie do you remember most from childhood?
Hmmmm - that's tough. Probably Mary Poppins.
1. Both, but as an adult. I can't wait to go back to Disneyworld.
2. Probably around 3. We're in Orlando periodically to see family anyway.
3. I loved the Haunted Mansion when it was set up like Nightmare before Christmas. I also love Pirates of the Caribbean.
4. Belle. We sang all the songs in 6th grade choir and I loved the movie.
5. Probably The Lion King because my brother loved it so much. He had the soundtrack and every day before school he would sing along. It was so cute. I watched Mary Poppins a lot too when I was little.
1. I've been to the one in Orlando once (last year) as an adult.
2. I took the kids this year. Oldest was nearly 4, youngest almost 2.
3. The jungle boat ride thing was fun.
4 & 5. I'm not so into disney because I wasn't really exposed to it when I was young.
I have to say that my almost 4 year old really loved it. She is very tall for her age and could ride lots of rides. My youngest didn't care as much about it, but he had fun still. I wouldn't recommend taking kids younger than 4, except I guess they are free so that is nice.
