Trouble TTC

I hate my thermometer

I decided to chart my temperature, figured the more information the better. So I went out to Target and bought their brand digital thermometer (not the basal one) and the battery died after two days! So we returned that one and got another. I opened it up last night and it is already flashing low battery. I was also using my old mercury one after the first one died and the temps on the Target one seem low.

So I was wondering if you ladies have any good thermometer recommendations.

Thanks!

Re: I hate my thermometer

  • You need a basal thermometer. You can get them at any drugstore in the family planning section (or at Walmart) They're about $10. The regular thermometers only go to one decimal place, when you need 2. The changes in your  temp should be very subtle and won't necessarily be able to be detected by just one decimal place (example: There's a BIG difference between 97.36 and 97.44 in the TTC world, but a regular thermometer would show 97.4)

I had a Walgreen's brand that lasted a year. And it was still good. The only reason I got a new one is because I wanted to switch from vaginal temping back to oral.

  • Yeah, if you're going to chart your temps, you need a basal one.  I got mine at Walmart too.  They aren't expensive at all.
