Parenting after a Loss

s/o Erin´s post - reaching?

When do they start doing that? Like reaching their arms out to you for you to pick them up or hold them?

Gabe lights up when I come home or walk in the room, but I have to go get in front of his face and talk to him. When he hears my voice but can?t see me he just smiles. But laughs and talks to me once he realizes it?s me.

At what age did your LO like seek you out or reach for you?

  • I read in a baby book they are supposed to start doing it at 3 months but I think that is a bit early... Danny is 3 months on Tuesday and he's not reaching out yet.

  • I want to say around 4 or 5 months he started reaching. But the first reaches were kind of arm flings and holding the arms up a bit. Around 6-7 months he started full out pointing and reaching properly and hugging on better.

  • He started reaching, sort of, around 5 months.  It got more pronounced when he started to "lunge" for toys from sitting to crawling position, about 2 weeks ago.  I love it!!

He just started giving hugs and "kisses" (open mouth pressed against cheek) last week.

  • What Tiffany said I think... I really started to notice it once he could sit up by himself, at 7 months.
