Anyone have a Moby I can borrow for the weekend?

A friend is coming into town for scrapbooking convention (I know, we're nerds.) and strollers are not allowed.  I kind of want my hands free for shopping and such and want DD to be comfy.  I promise to take very good care of it and kindly return it to you by Monday morning.

  • I'd loan you mine, but I think we live too far apart. (Me Buda, you RR?) I would offer to meet halfway, but I'm sick.

    Have fun at the convention!

  • Mine's on loan to another friend at the moment, otherwise I'd offer. But, I have to say, it was hard to carry DD in the Moby at that age. Stretchy fabric + heavier, wiggly baby = not so comfy. With the bigger babes, a more structured carrier supports their weight a little better (like a mei tai, or ergo/beco). Just something to think about if you were planning on having her in the carrier for longer periods of time. Hope you can find a good solution!

Hmm-- good point, BeckO.  I do have a Bjorn, but I thought the Moby would be more comfortable (with her on my hip.)  She's only 16lbs right now, a little on the smaller side still :(

  • You can borrow mine if you promise to tell me how the convention was so I can live vicariously through you.  :)  I left in in the car on the dashboard so it's a bit sun faded in this super hip tie dye fashion (not).  I'm in Round Rock.

Ditto pps though, I had a really hard time carrying Kate in the Moby once she was about 8 or 9 months old.  She was just way too heavy.  We tried a mei tei but she acted like I was torturing her by keeping her so confined.

At 16 lbs, you might be able to manage! It's worth a shot. :) I think I've heard other mamas say that nearing the 20 lb mark was when it really started getting uncomfortable. It was the wiggle factor with the weight that did me in.

Perhaps you could borrow the Moby and try it around the house before the convention to decide if it would work.
