My 6 week old daughter recently was released from Children's hospital after lengthy investigations on the cause of a seizure she had at 4 weeks. I will be asking my pediactric neurologist about this, but I am curious to know:
has anyone had a child who did NOT receive immunizations because of a previous history of seizure activity?
I know that some shots can have seizures as a rare side effect, and was wondering if having a baby who has a tendency to seizure would preclude getting those shots.
TIA!
Re: baby with history or seizures - yay or nay to immunizations?
I would also be cautious if I were you. There are many people who delay vaccines and don't start until well after the first 2 years of life, especially if the children don't go to daycare. Even then, you can choose to do only one at a time. You should look up the alternative schedule and educate yourself on it.
There are some vacciness that are completely ridiculous to give to babies, but that's just my opinion. Like the hep C?? Come on, that's a sexually transmitted disease. Give me a break.
But this comes from a mom who chose not to vax her child. Good luck!
My 1st son ( who is now almost 3) started having apnea spells @ 4 hours old, was taken to the NICU, had a CT scan that showed a swollen brain and an EEG later showed seizure activity at 1 day old. We really do not know the cause except the idea that it was oxygen deprivation during or before my labor. I did not vaccinate him AT ALL until he turned 1, then I did them very slow ( 1 at a time, and he still has not had MMR, chickenpx, or flu). Noah never had any other seizures and is developmentally "normal".
My 2nd son was born healthy and we have been vaccinating him on schedule, just 1 at a time
