Un-diagnosed trip to the ER

Around 2:30 yesterday, I was just sitting on the floor putting on my make up. I noticed my vision starting getting messed up. I couldn't see properly. I couldn't see my own face. I took pictures of myself to see if it would help me see myself but it really didn't. The corners of my eyes looked like they had water in them, or something. I couldn't see centered and everything on the outside looked cloudy. Then Adam woke up. I went to see him, and I couldn't see the bottom half of him. It was like it wasn't even there. I started getting dizzy. I thought it was just because my vision was acting up. I thought I got make up in my eyes. I blinked them, rubbed around them, nothing helped. I decided to suck it up and get over it, because I had a kid to take care of. As I was carrying him around trying to pick up the kitchen a bit and start making him lunch, I noticed a tingling sensation in my fingers. Shortly after, the tingling made it's way up to my face. All the left side of my body. I knew it was bad. I started getting scared. It didn't go away after a few minutes so I texted my husband, and told him I was scared, then told him what was happening He named off a bunch of things that could have been wrong. Low blood sugar, too much coffee, not enough food, blah blah blah. I knew that wasn't the culprit. I had just had breakfast, and only like 3 cups of coffee. Then he said Multiple Sclerosis. I thought it was a stroke. After the numbness/tingling subsided I started feeling so very sick and started getting a head ache. The head ache progressed into the worst pain I have felt since labor. I was completely debilitated. I couldn't even take care of my son. Hours later, I made my way to the ER. Adam was dropped off at his grandparents' house. They said they thought I would be stuck there for 24 hours for monitoring (Fortunately that didn't happen). After 5 hours of waiting around, I had blood tests ran and got a CT Scan. Nothing was detected. I was ready to leave. upon discharge, I got the exit sheets. My diagnosis was 'headache'. Seriously? I just went blind, numb, and almost threw up. Sure I had the world's worst head ache EVER, but that's not all I had.... The doctor told me, that at my age (21), this was all abnormal and sent me to a neurologist. I haven't yet called. I'm kind of thinking maybe it was just a one time thing, and I'm okay. But maybe that's denial. I'm actually really scared. My husband told me I will be going. He says he will drag me to the appointment if he has to.

The truth is- I'm just really scared.

I suppose I probably should schedule an appointment to see the neurologist... I'm just so sad. If It WAS MS, well, that just makes me really depressed.

Thank you for reading,

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

  • I really think you should go see that neurologist. Those symptoms aren't anything to just brush off, I was scared for you just reading it.

Have you had a migraine before? Seriously every single symptom you described, I have during a migraine

  • Make the appointment and let the specialist give you answers. Please don't write off your symptoms to a headache. It ok to be scared, but dont let beign scared keep you from listening to your gut.

  • Word for word, that sounds exactly like my migraines. They are so scary! I've explained to DH before that the symptoms are very stroke like. I even have trouble reading and talking, which is the worst part for me.

  • DH had similar symptoms when he found out he was diabetic. The blurred vision happened a few times over a couple of weeks. He also got dizzy a couple of times and had tingling in his hands and feet. I obviously can't say that it's diabetes, and they
