Anyone have experience with them? We are going on a tour next week and I don't know what to expect. I don't know how I feel about the "no baby talk" but I do like everything else that I have read and the owner sounds like a very warm person.
If you send your child to one of their schools, how do you like it and can you give me an idea of the cost?
Thanks!
Re: Goddard School
I called them but they don't do part time for infants because they don't crib share.
My friend takes her kids there and raves about it. She was at another school before and hated it - saw a world of improvement with her son.
I don't recall the price because I ruled it out since they didn't do part time.
What's the no baby talk thing? I think I like it if they don't do baby talk. I don't do baby talk with Adam because I want him to know the real words for things - i.e. train, not choo-choo; bottle, not ba-ba.
I am trying to figure out what "no baby talk" means. If it means not changing words to cutsie words I understand that. In that case we don't baby-talk either but I feel like it suggests a ridgid approach to caring for babies. I will see when I am there.
What is crib sharing?
We send our twin sons there. We love it. We had them registered there when I was 13 weeks pregnant. We looked at about 6 places before we made the decision, and we were most comfortable with them.
We really liked the owner, and director, and the program. Our boys are happy there and I never worry when I drop them off in the morning. They are very strict with their policies and they do follow them very closely. Our boys are still in the infant room, and will transition after the new year to the next room. The teachers are great, and our boys love them. We get a detailed list every day of their activities. It lists the books they read, the songs they listened to and how they used their motor skills for the day during different activities. They practice sign language and yoga each week as well. Some of it may sound silly for babies so young, but I liked the program and the detail of activities especially since DH and I would not be able to do these things with them everyday.
Regarding the cost, it was the most expensive place we looked at so we had to make adjustments in other areas in order to make it work since we were sending 2. It may vary by location, but I think it is around $1100 a month for full time in the infant room. If it is the next room I think it is less.
We go to Goddard after switching from another center and have been extremely pleased with them. We have had no issues at all. As far as no baby talk, the teachers in DD's room talk to her like I talk to her. They don't use that high pitched "OMG cute little baby voice", they talk to her like a normal person. I don't think it's rigid at all.
As far as crib sharing, DD has her own crib that is hers and no one else will use it. We provide linens for it and she is the only one that will use it regardless of how many days she is there.
As far as cost, that will depend on the area you are in. In my area, the price ranges from $900 monthly to $1300 and that's within a 20 mile radius!
$900 a month!!!!
What! OMG! I could never do it. That is more than we make a month right now. HOLY MOLY!
Thank you so much. I feel like I want him to go there so badly now! It will be expensive in my area then. The regular run of the mill daycare center is $252/week.
So now do I pay a nanny $200/week to come here or do I pay $800+ a month to send him to a WONDERFUL place that will totally keep him active?
Oh the choices...
