At what age do you use a high chair? Any recommendations for one?
I'm kinda torn between getting a cheap one from Ikea but I don't know at what age it's usable for or any safety ratings. And a more expensive Graco one that'll match the PNP, has great safety ratings, supports infant to toddler up to 80bs. I'm leaning towards the Graco but really just unsure whether it's worth it - it would be another ~$180
TIA!
Re: Question re: High chairs?
It depends on what you want... We got a Fisher Price Space Saver that straps to our dining room chair. Love it. She can use it now, we just recline it -- in fact we take it to restaurants with us.And we put her in it while we eat dinner at home, if she's awake.
If we'd been able to spend any amount of money, we'd have gotten a Stokke Tripp Trapp.
We're getting the space saver highchair as well. Love that it won't take up half the kitchen and can take easily take it with us to the ILs, etc.
I expect to start using it sometime between 6-9 mths. I won't be buying it (unless I get it at the shower) until it's time to start using it.

We were just debating this. I'd really like one of these for the portable-ness of it & so it saves space, plus regular ones are so effing expensive and we already have some $$$ shower registry items.
DH is concerned that it will be easier to topple over & that we can't use it on our cushioned dining chairs. And he worries about the size of a chair it can be used on since we will likely be getting a new table set in the next year.
Thoughts?
Thanks everyone!
With the space savers, we'd probably have to buy a chair to mount it on as well. Our dining tables are small and are padded in white cloth - yikes! Space isn't really a concern either but I do like the portability factor. Not sure what to decide on yet but thanks for all the feedback! I'll keep checking in and see if anyone writes anymore. I'd love to hear from someone that has an Ikea high chair?
MrsH, that's the high chair I'm looking at - except in the laguna bay colors! I'm so glad you love yours. I'm guessing you mean that it grows w/ the LO, that's what's making me head lean towards Graco but my wallet's leaning towards the $20 Ikea one.
Jbar - I didn't even realize you can check the stock availability of the store! The closest one to me is out of stock, too. But since I probably won't need it for 3-4 months (I'm due in Oct), I might try and wait.
I know, it sucks its out of stock! I've heard they are changing over 2010 stuff for 2011 stuff, so maybe that's the deal, I swear EVERYTHING is out of stock right now and not available online. Not sure if it can be ordered over the phone or not through the catalog? I'm also thinking since every single high chair online is not available in my nearby store, that they have other high chairs there that aren't online. I just would like to get it before the baby is born because going to ikea is crazy enough to deal with, not to mention with a baby!
We have the Graco Blossom also and the functionality can't be beat. I like that you can detach the high chair top and attach to a chair (just like a spacesaver). Or there's a booster, toddler chair, etc. built in. My LO just started using hers for the great cereal experiment, and I can add that the tray operates well with one hand, and it wipes clean easily. She'll be in this one for so long, it was worth the $$.
