NO. They have pads at the hospital (Sibley?) that they will give you. Like... 2-3 pads at at time! LOL. You will see. They will also give you disposable undies to wear. And when you leave, they will give you bags and bags of extra pads and undies, all you have to do is ask. :-)
I do recommend some grannie panties and Always overnight pads for when you get home and want to wear something with wings and less bulky. Or for when you leave the hospital and wear your own clothes. But you don't need depends or heavy duty pads... Just absorbent overnights.

Two words, Always Infinity. They are super thin and absorb incredibly well. Malia is right though the hospital will give you pads, some are like diapers but those were nice the night I had him since you bleed quite a bit. I hate wearing pads but the Infinity ones make it bearable. Luckily my PP bleeding lessened after about a week
ETA: Yup, granny panties are a must! Something comfortable, not tight, YKWIM?
I brought my own pads but they ended up being about the same as the hospital ones. I really didn't even need the super absorbent overnight ones. Not sure if it's because I had a c/s or not but I didn't bleed very heavily. Might be because they clean out the uterus during surgery so with a vag delivery you might bleed more?
But ditto on bringing granny panties. Or just Fruit of the Loom bikini ones because they're pretty full coverage. Those mesh panties are not the most comfortable things. I hated them and couldn't wait to wear my own stuff.
Strangely, I actually loved the mesh underwear they give you, and asked for more to bring home! I wore them for about two weeks!
Ditto everyone else.....they give you lots of pads in the hospital. I had stocked up on Always w/wings for at home, and they were great. I needed to wear them for about 3 weeks, then I switch to just pantiliners, but needed those for 3 more weeks.

I love these pads! If you have to wear them, these are the ones to get for sure! When I ran out of hospital pads I used them.
I asked for pads when I left the hospital and then they gave me plenty. I also asked for an extra pair of the throw away panties, as sexy as they were, they served the purpose.
Yeah, don't worry about packing underwear or pads unless you really want to wear your own. I actually packed them because I had intended on using my own but when the time came, I was too tired and focused on just recovering to care. So I just wore the hospital stuff. I didn't even care enough to remember whether I liked the mesh underwear or not but since I was bleeding so much, I ended up not really wanting to use my own underwear while in the hospital since I didn't want to get it all bloody and worry about having to get the stain out and wash them, etc. But once I got home, I used my own underwear and pads.
They'll have everything you need in the hospital. I did have those incontinence panty type pads for when I first came home and wore them the first 3 days or so and then switched to Always Infinity Pads after that which are awesomely thin and comfortable and absorb a lot.
as uncomfortable as those HUGE hospital pads were, i really needed them those first few days after the birth... after that, the bleeding tapered down to medium flow period type bleeding
but yeah like pp said, the hospital will provide everything you need.
I love always infinity overnights... And you know my TOM is ridiculously heavy... I used it during wedding week and LOVED them! The overnights are orange.

Good to know the hospital will provide me some and I don't have to buy Depend!! lol. Thanks for the tip on Always Infinity. I'll keep that in mind :-).
