Please share how you warm up the crib

I have been reading a lot about people finding it helpful to warm the crib before they place LO in it. I am thinking of trying this as I start to put LO to bed in his crib instead of the Rock N Play tonight. DH is off for a week so I figure it is now or never! Please share what works for you! TIA.

    That's helpful?

  • I have a friend that transitioned to the crib this way.  She put the heating pad on the mattress for 10 minutes before LO laid down.  Then she gradually reduced the time it was on the mattress as LO got accustomed to sleeping in the crib.  GL!

Then I will elaborate. I don't think it's necessary. :;shrugs::

  • The heat in my house keeps the crib warm. lol. I don't, and never have done anything special. Of course, my LO sweats a lot, so I can't keep it too warm anyway. As PP said, the heating pad for a few minutes doesn't sound like a bad idea if you really want to warm your crib.

  • same as previous posters, i don't think its necessary and also think its sort of ridiculous.  no offense, but ideal sleeping temp for a baby is 68 degrees- which is chilly imho.  all you're doing is creating another bedtime habit that you'll have to eventually break.  put the baby in there- he/she will be fine.

  • We do this some of the time.  We use a heating pad.  Just takes the chill off.  I put it on for the amount of time that it takes me to swaddle LO and give her a few snuggles.

  • Just a flannel fitted sheet. It is warmer than the regular cotton ones.

  • I use velour sheets and a ceramic heater in her room.

  • I have never done this either.

Like a pp said, one more habit to break.

Her crib isn't any colder than the rest of my house.

Once in awhile if she's really fussy I'll lay her down wrapped in her already warm blanket and then take it away after a bit.

This.  We also use more of jersey type crib sheets so they really don't get cold.

  • Ok, I'm a little late to the party...

I haven't tried this, but my friend swears by it for transitioning... A rice sock warmed up in the microwave; then wrap it in a slighly worn shirt of yours... place it in the crib for a few minutes and then remove when you add baby

This way it will be warm and smell like you...GL!
