a bunch of layers (onesie, shirt & pants, socks, and a sweater or fleece jacket), hat, mittens & a couple blankets over his or her legs.
But then, I live in Atlanta, so we hover right around freezing and that's about as cold as it ever gets. If I lived further North I'd need to do quite a bit more.
I'm in seattle it rarely snows here but we get lots of temps around freezing. With my ds we just dressed him warm and put blankies over him and a little hat. Honestly they stay pretty hot in those infant seats and when we put too much on him we would take him out and he would be a sweaty.
We're using the shower cap style cover. They don't interfere with straps or anything and they seem pretty warm and cozy. Granted, according the the Farmer's Almanac the area I live in, Syracuse, NY is the worst city in the US for winter weather.
Winters are COLD here, so a blanket isn't enough, and I defintely don't want to deal with a fleece suit everytime we leave the house. This lets you regulate the baby's temp by unzipping and getting some air in there while in the car, and it can easily be popped off one we are at our destination and warm inside!
It is entirely too cold here to just use blankets. I tried it with DD, and it just didn't work. If it's too cold for me to come our without a coat on, it is definitely too cold for a newborn to come out without a coat. With that being said, I used the bundle me when DD was in the stroller. During other times, I put her on a fleece snow suit, extra clothes, and covered her up with a receiving blanket and a thick blanket.
Re: If uaren't using a bundle me...then what r u using?
If I wasn't getting one, I'd use a coat + drape a fleece blanket over the carrier when outdoors.
