She has her 2 bunnies and pink monkey, a blanket and 2 board books along with her crib soother. She NEVER cries in the morning, she just plays until we get her.
DS has a stuffed dog and lion, and his rainforest soother. When I go to get him in the morning, you can tell he is torn - if I pick him up he can't play anymore, so he sometimes buries his head in his stuffed dog and rolls around.
DS has a few "babies" that he switches out from time to time. Now there is only 1 in there but he has put up to 4 in there. They are all little stuffed animals or a blue baby doll.
Yes he has 5 things (I know because I count them every nap and night time to make sure they are in there). He has a baby friendly headgehog, blue bear that has bells in it- he likes the sound, a baby donald from Disney, a snake another Disney thing and a blanket.
He makes a game out of them.. he throws each one over when he get's up from his nap and expects you to pick them up and put them in his crib as he points them out. At night, he will only leave the blanket, blue bear and headgehog in the crib but will throw out the other 2. In the AM, if it takes too long to get him out of the crib, he'll throw the rest over.
He plays for about 45 min before going to bed and plays for abou tthat same time in the AM before he starts to complain.
My 7 month old just has 2 things that hang on the crib but my 2 year old sleeps with 2 stuffed animal and a few blankets. We started giving her the stuffed animals at a year. One of the stuffed animals has a rattle in it and we hear her playing with it from time to time.
Every few days I try to switch out the toys in her crib - stuffed animals, dolls, blocks, Little People, whatever. I always have a few "touch and feel" books because she likes them. There's also the musical aquarium thing. As a PP said, when she wakes up in the middle of the night, she'll turn on the aquarium and go back to sleep. I also have a baby-safe mirror in her crib because she still likes to play with it. Some mornings she'll play for 45 mins before crying to be let out, but other times she cries first thing. I also have a crib pillow from Ikea that she really likes sleeping on. She shoves her hand under it and gets it plumped just right. That didn't go in the crib until she was like 15 mos.

At a year Jack had his aquarium (still does), lovey, and a couple stuffed animals.
Now he sleeps in a full bed and must have his lovey, aquarium, backhoe, excavator, cement mixer, and any new Thomas train that he gets. Only one thankfully. Oh, I forgot his little bulldozer too.
Jack loves his aquarium. The vehicles are more for comfort than playing. He will have his backhoe on his stomach and will play with it for a couple minutes before going to sleep. Not long though.
Stupid me! I always thought that by putting toys in the crib my daughter would never fall asleep. And I've never put them in except when I'm cleaning her room or putting laundry away and she's in the crib while I get that stuff done. I'm gonna have to invest in one of those aqariums everyone's mentioned and add a few stuffed animals to her bed when she goes to bed toinght. Hopefully, they'll work! Thanks girls!
Stuffed animals, but I try to avoid anything clunky or hard going into the crib. DS would sleep on legos or blocks if I didn't watch him!! With DD it's books.
She still has her rainforest soother that she likes to turn on and watch. She has blankies in there and a small stuffed bunny that she likes to make hop. Otherwise, nothing else.
Re: Do you put toys in DC's crib?
dd has her smoother, a blanket, a teddy bear and a music glowing seahorse(kinda like a gloworm).
She plays with all of them. If she wakes in the middle of the night, she will turn her smoother on and go back to sleep. It's pretty funny.
