Anyone make DIY letters for LO's name?

I am buying the letters from Michaels- wooden- and want to decorate them.  I know some people paint and others have used fancy scrapbook paper and glued it on.

Any ideas??

    I made Mallory's letters.  Combo of paint and scrapbook paper.

    Love!!  Where did you learn how to do it?  I'm pretty crafty but would prefer some kind of instructions...

    I made LO's letters - they are a combo of paint and scrapbook paper - I modge podged the paper and the beaded border on.

    I went a different route and painted completely, but on canvas, instead of the wooden letters. I'm happy to share if you'd like.

    So happy you posted this! I've been trying to figure out how to do this. What is the best way to get the paper to stick to the wood?
