I have a very old cross stitched Guardian Angel that was done by my Great, Great Aunt that I had in my room as a kid and I want to put it in Paige's Room.
I'm getting it re-matted and framed because the old stuff just didn't go well with the room. It's a beautiful piece but it is very old and it has some stains around the edges. Not all the stains will be covered by the new matting..
How would I go about trying to get rid of the stains without ruining it? Any idea? Below is what it looked like without the matting. If you need close ups of some of the stains I have some.
Re: How to remove Stains? (PiP)
I have found that the oxiclean spray gets out stains really well (including most set in baby stains).
I usually spray the stain, let it sit for only a minute or so (no longer so it doesn't take any color out) then wash in hot water or cold water depending on the stain with a bit of oxiclean powder and a downy ball filled with vinegar in the wash.
Generally that gets everything out.
If I need to hand wash an item, I will spray the stain and use an old toothbrush to scrub the stain until I can't see it any more with the oxiclean spray and hot water, then rinse and hang to dry.
