I leave Cream Cheese out for an hour to thaw it when I am using it to make frosting, etc. It's really your call. 2.5 hours seems long and it it probably tastes hot...I wouldn't it eat if it were me.
I think the general recommendation is any food that needs refrigeration needs to be tossed after sitting out for 2 hours. Personally, I don't like to push it, so I would say an hour to an hour and a half.
I was thinking to long but the other women I work with is basically trying to shove it down my throat saying its fine. I'm throwing it out and if she doesn't like it to bad!

I really don't know. You can always smell/taste it and decide for yourself.
