Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Would you change pedis if...

You loved and trusted most of the docs but the office and billing department were stupid and rude and screwed up your account every single visit?  It was fine when I just had DD#1 but with 3 kids they are so confused and disorganized.  They tried to tell me today my son had never had a vaccine so needed his 15 month appt today and yet they had his TWIN'S info!!!  They changed policies, told me my copay increased and I called insurance right there and they said it hadn't... it was so screwed up and is EVERY time I go in.  I'm a drama queen and like to blow things out of proprtion, but sadly, no need for that here.

I love the docs, think the hassle is worth it.  DH thinks they pose a risk to the kids if they are so disorganized and screwing things up.

FOr the record, I keep extensive and thorough records, so  don't worry that I'd let them do anything unnecessary.  What would you do?

  • Yes, I would change pedis. There are good doctors everywhere, and you shouldn't have to deal with an office staff who mixes up patient records.

  • I would switch pedis.  There are a lot of concerns here...you could be billed too much, and have a helluva time getting it straightened out.  And worse than that, they have mixed up patient's records.  I know you keep good health records for your children, but the staff at the pedis should, too.  Poor record keeping puts all of their patients at risk.  Ask around for some recommendations of pedis in your area that other moms love.  Hopefully you find the right fit somewhere!

  • First thing I would do is actually talk to the doctor and tell them how bad it is.  They are the ones responsible ultimately for the record keeping and it's possible they aren't aware of the problems at their front desk!

If after talking to the doctor about it you are not satisfied that they will get things figured out then I would definately change doctors.  But at least give them a chance to make the corrections in staff.

  • You both are right.  I just went online and looked at reviews and everyone else had the same problems.  I'll go to their 15 month appt. to break up with my favorite doctor and then start fresh for their 18 month appt.  Boo.  My husband will thank you for agreeing with him.

  • First I would complain. I find that kind of stuff inexcusable. period. THEN I would switch. If it wasn't fixed.

  • Welp, on the complaint train now.  Nurse just called and told me while DS's iron improved, DD's dropped significantly, she was anemic and she needed to schedule a series of tests, get us in to see a specialist.... then I asked for clarification- what she was last month, and what was the %ge drop.

Then she said "Oh look at that, I misread the numbers.  She actually went from 10.0 to 11.1.  She looks great, no need for a follow up.  Enjoy your day," click.   OMG- what they might have put my daughter through if I hadn't stopped her.
