Noise by-laws?!

My neighbour is doing some outdoor renos...he decided to start them at 7 am this morning. I was ready to go outside and tear him a new one because I'm pretty damn sure the law is nothing like that sht before 8am?! There are so many people in this neighbourhood working shift work, that's so inconsiderate! Never mind that if this were next year and I had JUST fallen back to sleep after getting up with baby for the millionth time, I would go apeshit.

Now I'm crusty! lol

Re: Noise by-laws?!

  • Oh that sucks!  We have some pretty inconsiderate neighbors too, who I'm very nervous about once baby comes.  I'm glad so many cribs and bassinets come with little sound machines...  hopefully that will block the noise out for her.

  • That really sucks! I would not be happy either! If you really wanted to look into it you can go to your town's city hall and they'll know for sure what start/end times are, and they can send your neighbor a notice of those times and that he's in violation of them. Nothing will happen because of the notice, but that's his warning then he can actually get fined. Not sure how far you want to go with it..haha.

  • Unfortunately our by-law is a weekday start of 7am :(

But I do think it has a 9am weekend start?  Not 100% sure though.

  • Don't know when they start in my area....but if it helps, I have a mayflower moving truck parked behind my car so where I can't get out. My new neighbor? A**hole....he won't let them move until he's moved in...so now i'm going to be late for work

What a jerkface! I would drive over his lawn to get out. Making you late for work is completely ridiculous!

I'm so torn on what to do! He's been a good neighbour, but for an engineer/ex-pilot...he is completely dense. He was helpful while my hubby was away overseas, but has NO common sense! I think I'll look up our by-law and "remind" him. I would likely be more tollerant if he hadn't built a ledge on his fence that not only looks over the 10ft high fence (so he can see storms and trains), but also looks down RIGHT into our bedroom/bathroom/backyard...ya. Nice guy, but dumb as a post!
