1st Trimester

anyone w/a high beta hcg?

I had a beta done last week at about 15 dpo +/- 1 day and it was over 800! I'm very sure about the conception date, so I don't think my dates are off. Has anyone else had a value in this range? I'm having another draw in the morning, but my mind is all over the place. I even had a dream about twins last night, which I'm hoping can be contributed to my paranoia.

  • The range is huge, and the number doesn't mean anything right now. It certainly does not mean multiples.

I know women who had higher HCG draws with their singleton pregnancies than with their multiples pregnancies.

Good luck on your next draw, and I hope the rate of increase is great, since that is the only thing that matters right now.

  • My hcg draw at 25dpo was at the very high range for singletons and in the mid-range for twins (49,194). Actually, according the the chart I'm about to reference, my numbers were much higher than the highest number reported for 25dpo. There is definitely ONE baby in there.

For 15dpo, the range goes up to over 2000. Unless you have another reason to suspect twins (family history, fertility treatments), I wouldn't think too much about it.

  • Mine was 244 at 14 DPO, and I am having twins, but as others have said there could be a whole slew of reasons why you are seeing high numbers. Also, from what I understand, not all labs use the same testing/numbers/ scale, so we could be talking apples and oranges.

I had higher betas than 2 of my friends who had twins.   I have a singleton

  • it depends on if it is dpt or dpo and what day, each person is different along with age as well as if you did ivf or iui drugs to get pregnant.

  • We conceived naturally, so no use of fertility drugs. The only reason I had a beta drawn so quickly was because I coincidently had a doctors appointment on the same day that I was expecting my cycle. A few hrs before my appointment I took a HPT that came up +.
