Re: NESTING

  • It will show up - trust me. I went through a big phase a few weeks ago where I cleaned out every closet in my house (except one - I need DH's help with it)........and then today, I seriously scrubbed every square inch of the kitchen/dining room. Every appliance, every window, every inch of chair rail........it has all been cleaned like never before!

I'm still thinking of tackling the bathroom tonight but that might just have to wait until the morning.

  • Loading the player...
  • I'm still waiting too. I'm really hoping it kicks in soon, I've just been so damn lazy the last couple months..it takes all I have to do everyday things like loading the dishwasher..Huh?

  • When I was 28-30 weeks I did not wanted to do anything. I am now 31 weeks and I am scrubbing walls and baseboards.
  • Aside from wanting to get the nursery done, I never nested with my first. I cleaned, but not the "scrub everything til it shines" that you hear about.

This time I only seem to be nesting in the form of shopping so far :)

  • Mine has just now kicked in and I am a little over 31 wks. I am in by no means ready for Jaxon ,but if he came today, he would at least have clean clothes and a bed to sleep in!
  • Will one of you nesters visit me? Pretty please? I never nested with DD. I obviously did the basics, because I had to, but never scrubbed the house corner to corner.

  • I've had no desire to nest now that the nursery is done.

My only concern when I get up is to find my next comfortable position

...which is why I'm hiring someone to scrub the house one good time before LO arrives

  • I never nested with DS. I am cleaning but I can't really say I'm scrubbing each and every corner... I just don't have the energy or the time with a 2 year old. I wish!

  • It hits me in spurts. I spent all day yesterday sewing stuff for LO's bedding and will probably spend all day today cleaning. We're also putting our co-op on the market this week and I go back to work tomorrow (teacher) so I'm feeling the extra pressure all the sudden. I miss the days of being super lazy :( It was a wonderfully lazy summer

Me too!!! I am 31 weeks, Yesturday DH and I literally ripped apart every square in of closet space, built shelves, washed floors, painted room, started organizing... I went from not wanting to move to superman!! lol

No worries, all of a sudden you will get the "itch"

    GL!

  • It will slowly kick in. I didn't feel like doing much at 28 weeks, either.

But I'm guess you'd call what I'm doing nesting - every few days I clean out a closet, organize a cabinet, etc. In a few weeks, I'll work on making and freezing meals.

This weekend it REALLY kicked in. I've been cleaning out everything. (not scrubbing - just getting rid of stuff I haven't used or touched in a couple of years).

  • My version of nesting was cooking, I have been cooking up a storm!  Unfortunately I never got the urge to clean, I just do it out of necessity.
  • I've always been really "into" cleaning but now I have noticed it to an extreme. And, to make it hard, I am supposed to be on bedrest now and have to stop and check my BP every time I get in a cleaning frenzy. Yesterday I cleaned the couch= scrub it with a solvent and vacuum like a crazy person. Then, my BP hiked up too high and I was stuck on my a$$ for the rest of the day.
  • I'm not that far ahead of you but I, too, thought nesting would never come.  When I got home from work on Saturday I literally napped and watched TV the rest of the day.  Then yesterday I just "felt" like cleaning and cleaned every corner of the downstairs down to moving appliances and cleaning under them (which I realize was stupid, I should have waited for DH to move stuff).  I think maybe it just comes in spurts.
  • today is my due date and i have not nested yet... sorry, but i'd rather be on the couch resting than cleaning.  i do the basic stuff and pick up but with lightning crotch, sciatic nerve pain and extreme exhaustion... i'm not doing a thing!  that's what husbands are for!  :D
  • Yeah...I'm still waiting for it to kick in.  I'm more interested in getting all of the baby things we need (ahem..."need") than cleaning the house.

DH is a better housekeeper than I am, though, so the house is probably cleaner now since he's taken over those duties than they were when I was helping.

  • Today's the first day I've felt like doing any cleaning...and I think it's more because I realized how gross the house than because I actually want to clean!
  • I always assumed nesting kicked in closer to the end.. no way. I can NOT sit down without looking around and finding something else that needs cleaned. Yesterday I literally scrubbed my porch with a sponge on my hands and knees. I'm definitely paying for it now, my back is killing me! After I was done, DH told me his pressure washer would've been much easier. UGH! You do it next time and I won't have to, mister! Its still 95 degrees here and all my fall decor is out lol I'm going nuts.
  • it definitely does get better. I wasn't really wanting to do much at all around that time but creeping up on 35 weeks and I am like freaking out scrubbing walls re-painting base boards dusting spider webs off the ceiling taking off the heater vents and washing them, needless to say I am definitely nesting hardcore. I am starting on the baby stuff this week, washing everything and scrubbing the walls, windows, shampooing the carpets and once I pack the bag for the birth and all the cleaning is done I am locking the door and NOBODY is setting foot in there until the baby comes through that door. lol.
