Finding childcare?!!!!

We just relocated to the Apex NC area and I really have no idea where to start looking for a nanny/ MMO. I am due Dec. 18th and my mother-in-law ( who thinks that SHE is having the baby!) was supposed to keep the child. However, she is having back issues and I just do not feel comfortable leaving the child with her 5 days a week. Plus she lives 30 minutes away and is not willing to pick up or drop off. Does anyone have any suggestions about finding an in-home daycare ( someone who will only keep 2-4 children at a time)? I tried Craigslist, but it seems to shady. I could use any suggestions! Thanks so much!

  • Through your church? I use a center so I'm not sure how to find an in home one either really.  Although I know our State website does have a list of licensed once, but not all in home ones that small will have a license.

  • We found ours through craigslist. There are a lot of shady posts, but if you keep looking, you can find some gems. It took about two months for us to locate our current provider...

  • I know there are agencies in my area who only do in-home daycare referrals (you pay a fee)  search your phone book/on-line and see if you can find one.  otherwise, its word of mouth - ask everyone you know if they know someone!
  • I live in MN and found my in-home daycare though a state referral website. Once I had a list, I called a few and made appts to visit.

I did a quick search and found something in NC that might help you.
