Gas leak in house

So a few weeks ago we randomly didn't have hot water one morning so we called and got someone to come in the next day. Well a few days later everybody started noticing a gas smell downstairs. I never smelt it and I still can't. They came back to fix it about a week ago and apparently the smell is still there even though I still can't smell it. I've been down stairs doing laundry a few times since all this started. Now they are here again because now it's considered an emergency. On the phone they told us to open all the windows. I'm scared for my LO because I have been breathing in this air for a few weeks and have been downstairs a few times. I never thought anything of it because I could never smell it for some reason. Could this be harming the baby? Now i'm starting to freak out. My next appointment is on tuesday. Should I wait until then to mention this to my OB? Sorry for the vent but now i'm really worried.

Re: Gas leak in house

  • Is the baby still moving as usual and whatnot? If so, I would probably put in a call to the OB service and ask them to page a doc for you (probably not until morning, though) and ask for a call-back. Give the details to whomever calls you back and see if they find cause for concern.

  • Yes I still feel normal movement throughout the day but since it's been a few week i'm very concerned.

Totally understandable, I would be concerned too. Of course things like this always come up at the beginning of a holiday weekend. If you won't be able to sleep without hearing something, page the service now. That's the reason they have on-call physicians. I hope you feel better soon...

  • Thanks for the advice. I called the on-call doctor and he said I would be having symptoms like headaches and trouble breathing if I was exposed. I haven't had any headaches or anything. He said they would worry about me being exposed because it would be a very small chance he would be exposed. My next appointment is on tuesday so I will just mention this to my OB and everything should be okay.

    Great news!
