Parenting after a Loss

I almost threw in the towel last night...

for BF.  I was seriously saying to myself- would it be easier? would she sleep better/longer? etc.
Mind you- this was at 2:30 AM after being up with her for 2 hrs and not knowing what else to do. She was fed, dry etc. and still fussing.  And all I kept thinking was- this is just running into the next feeding- so why even bother closing my eyes. My body is just so tired.

I guess it's okay to have moments like that- but I would love for nights to get a little easier.

  • BTW - do you have a local La Leche League? Sometimes it's nice to meet other moms who are going through (or have gone through) the same things.

  • I'm a mild lactivist (lkstor's word) so ignore me if you aren't gung ho about BFing.  But I can say that I had a lot of people tell me early on that she won't sleep through the night on breastmilk alone... it digests too fast... formula sticks with them longer.  I believe that is all total BS.  DD has never had one drop of formula and she has slept through the night (most of the time) since 10 weeks.  I'm not promising you that your LO will do the same, just giving you something to consider.  I remember the early weeks feeling SO anxious about nighttime.  I felt like I would just get to sleep and she would wake up to eat again.  It did get better. And BFing just got easier and easier as time went on.
