I was only worried about the security machines...are they x-ray, etc.? I should preface all of this with I am a worrier, but I have had miscarriages in the past (not due to flying), so I think about every little thing.

You walk through a metal detector...your bags go through an X-ray machine. You do not go through an X-ray machine.

Not anymore. Many airports have full body x-rays (or scanners). A while back some jack@ss boarded a plane with explosives up his bum....so now major airports are getting body scanners.
Perfect! Thank you. I called the airport and received mixed answers. One person told me that you do go through an x-ray machine and another told me that you only do if you are randomly selected. My doctor said it was fine, as long as there were no x-rays involoved...so I am guessing it's fine then. Thank you!

I've already flown twice since I found out I was pregnant, and other than terrible nausea on the flights, everything was fine. Flew in and out of major airports both times.
Didn't you catch it on the new recently about the plane that broke up into 3 pieces? A Colombian plane crashed broke up into pieces and 130 of 131 passengers all survived..including a 7 week pregnant women. They did tests and her baby was safe.
I also travel quite a bit for work, if you are selected to go through the full body scanner, just tell them you'd prefer a pat down and they will do that instead. Nothing to worry about! Happy flying!
Re: Safe to fly in 1st Trimester?
It's fine. You're safe to fly until the 3rd trimester, as far as I know. I'm going to be flying a lot over the next few months - I travel for work.

It is still safe
Yes it's safe to fly.
