Tiny Showers...

Can someone please reassure me a tiny shower will still be fun and not feel awkward ??

I have only lived in the town I'm in a few years and really just have a handful of close friends. I have absolutely no family in the area either.

My best friend here is throwing me a shower this weekend and honestly there is a chance there will only be 6-8 people (including myself and the hostess). It will take place in my home which is relatively small anyway- BUT I am just getting worried. I hope it's not going to seem weird to the guests. I have been to a few showers with 30+ people

    I think that sounds really nice, actually. You'll get to talk to everyone and your guests, if they don't know one another, can truly spend more time talking and getting to know each other.

     My shower here will be quite small as well. I'm okay with it. My family is in 2 other states, so those showers were/will be very small as well.

    I think small showers can be really much more intimate and lovely! Have a great time.

    I agree that it does sound nice. With a small group you can really get to visit with each person and relax knowing you did talk to them all. I feel like at big parties it's hard to talk to everyone.

    Don't worry! Small showers are a lot of fun. I've been to lots with under ten people, and it's always a good time.

    I feel better now, was probably just overthinking things. Like I said, most of the showers I've been to have been larger!

    I went to my niece's shower and there were only 8 of us there (including the hostess and her mom, etc).  It was very nice and we had a lot of fun.

    That sounds really nice, actually!  I would much rather go to a small shower than a big one.  The one I had with DS#1 was small too, maybe 12-15 people, but I liked it.  It didn't take hours to open gifts and I really got a chance to talk and mingle with everyone.  The only downside is that because only 12-15 people came, a lot of family and people who couldn't come mailed their gifts to the shower, so that I opened them there.  It was just kinda weird opening a lot of presents from people that almost none of the guests knew and the givers weren't present to thank.
