20 weeks and still nothing...urg

ok yes this is another post about feeling the baby move...but I haven't and I am bummed a bit and scared a bit :(

I know it could be because I have some extra padding (5'5" and 170lbs) but I have always been told I was sooo (sad in a sassy voice) intune with my body so I really thought I would feel it.

PLEASE tell me there are others in 20+ weeks that haven't felt movement yet, before I go all crazy prego lady and call the doctor (I have an appointment tomorrow so I suppose I could wait to freak out until then LOL)

Re: 20 weeks and still nothing...urg

  • I thought I was feeling him a few weeks back but determined whatever I was feeling was way to low to be the LO, so I'm in your boat I have not been able to determine a movement yet.  I'm padded as well, and my Dr. told me usually with your first pregnancy you don't until 20-22 weeks so I'm waiting patiently daily now. . . good luck!

  • Hang in there!  with my first pregnancy I felt NOTHING until 28 weeks.  With this pregnancy I have felt a couple of flutters but nothing substantial or consistent yet.

  • I have felt mine, but my sister in law was i think 22 weeks before she felt hers.  Hang in there!

  • My doc said it's normal to not feel movement until 22+ weeks, especially with your first.  Try to relax, and you can always ask your doc about it at your appointment tomorrow.  I almost never feel LO unless I'm laying perfectly still, on my back, doing absolutely nothing.  Or occasionally if I lay on my stomach, LOL.  My next appt is at 22 weeks, so I might ask then if I'm still not feeling much, but since I just saw LO on Monday via u/s, I'm not too worried.

  • I just felt the baby 2 days ago (20w5d)
  • I am right there with you... I felt something yesterday that I thought maybe, possibly could have been baby and then an hour later I was second guessing it. I have been trying the cold drink and laying down and still nothing... I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks I will start to feel him more strongly. From everything I have heard and read it looks like we're still in the fairly normal range to just start to feel baby moving (18-22 weeks).

  • I am in the same situation - which is why I check the heart rate almost every night now Big Smile Whenever I think I do feel something, it goes away so fast and I don't have time to really 'diagnose' it.  Then, I just tell myself that I am making things up - heehee. I don't think that I will really understand what movement and believe it until my DH can feel it too.
  • I felt the baby flutter a bit (at least I thought that's what it was) but was never really too sure. I could have sworn I felt something a little stronger about a week or 2 ago, but again nothing clear. However today, at 20 weeks 4 days I definitely felt this little guy while i was sitting at my desk/computer at work. It was so cool.  Maybe your day will be tomorrow!! But if not, you will certainly get reassurance when you see your doctor!
  • I'm about the same size as you and have felt movement for the last couple of weeks. But, it's only at certain times of the day, like 30 minutes after I eat breakfast and 30 minutes after dinner. I wouldn't notice it unless I was sitting perfectly still, and would probably mistake it with gas if I was up and moving around.

I'm sure everything is fine...some people don't feel anything until 22 weeks or so. I would ask the doctor tomorrow if you are really worried though.

  • I am only 18 weeks and 3 days and have felt nothing. I had my appt. yestesday and the Dr. said it is very normal to not feel anything until 20-22 weeks with your first. She said its hard with your first because you dont really know what you are supposed to feel.

I am sure everything is fine and you will feel a lot better tomorrow after talking to your dr!

  • I just stared feeling him about 4 days ago.  I was in the same boat as you until then.
  • Hang in there! I had only tiny flutters until last week and then I found out I had an anterior placenta, got all bummed, and the next day got thumped big time. Now she's kicking all the time to the point where I and DH can easily feel it with our hand and I can see it through my shirt.

Those little ones can gain strength fast!

  • I think I felt him last night for the first time... I am 22 weeks today.... and am also well padded first time mom..... I hope that was really what I felt...
  • I only started to feel a little movement late last week.  Nothing consistent yet, but I've felt one or two big kicks.  I was on the fluffy side to begin with and I also have anterior placenta.
