Paranoid much?

DD "walks" to school. I put it in quotes because I watch her from the car the entire way. This morning she walked really quickly and DS was being a pain to get into the car so I didn't see her get to school. I mean I know the chances of someone snatching her on the 2 blocks to school is very minimal but I was getting really paranoid. I mean what would I tell DH if she went missing and I had to tell him that I didn't see her walk in and didn't call? That's hours lost time to start searching for her if she did get snatched. I started picturing myself as one of those moms on tv begging for their baby back. So yeah, I just called her school to verify she was in class. She is, she's fine.

  • That's why I watch Jakob at the bus stop every morning, and I don't go back into the house until I see him get on the bus  :)

  • Ha!  You're a lot better than me!  I walk Elena into the school holding hands and watch her all the way down the hall into her classroom.  (they make the parents stop at the hall.)  I at least feel better b/c there are lots of other parents -- even of much older kids! -- also walking their Little Ones in.

I asked her if she wanted to walk into the school by herself and she got a little bit of panic in her eyes, so it looks like I'll keep walking her!

  • When I taught 6th grade I had a mom follow her son into my first period class and try to stay for the whole class.  I was like, um, no.  I think that with a kindergardener you are fine.  :)
