I blended and froze then mashed to make a slushy. I tried the whole slice into bar shapes but he gummed a piece off mid suck and choked then gagged then puked up all the watermelon juice!
I make really big chunks that I can easily hold in my hand and then hold it while she gums on it, I just watch her to make sure that she's not gumming off a big piece. I have stuck my finger in her mouth a couple times to sweep out a somewhat big (still not choke-worthy) piece, but its gone well so far. I don't give it to her to hold unless its in a mesh feeder, so sorry if thats what you are looking for!
I just cut it up into chunks for him. Sometimes he seems like he is about to choke. I just pat him on the back and he works it out on his own. I have yet to have to put my finger in to take something out becuase he is choking.
Once the session is over and I take the watermelon away from him I do put my finger in his mouth to look and make sure there is nothing left in there. I would hate to walk away and he still have some pieces in his mouth.
I diced into about 1/2 inch squares. The only time Kaelyn chocked is when it put the watermelon chunks i plain yogurt. We also started watermelon in a mesh feeder.
