Saw an amazing specialist today. She did another u/s, confirmed my baby still has the cystic hygroma of 4.5 mm on the back/neck all along spine. She then explained to me that the baby could have a structural or heart defect which could cause death, or a chromosome problem (Downs, Turners, or a trisomy, or triploidy), OR it could resolve on its own and the baby could be born health or with a small hump in the neck that could be removed.
Needless to say while it wasn't GREAT news it was given in a compassionate, wonderful manner. I was at the office from 9-12. I also met with a genetic counselor and another specialist. They all suggested I do a CVS within the next week and also the ultrascreen FISH test. I will be doing that soon, they are going to call me and schedule.
This is a very difficult time for my DH and me but after today's answers and compassionate, kind care, we are hoping and praying for the best and preparing ourselves for whatever could happen. They are also going to do genetic testing on my DH and myself after the CVS and ultrascreen.
T&P much appreciated. If anyone wants to share your stories of things like this and any advice, please do.

I've been waiting for an update all day! I am glad you got to hear the news from someone who knows how important it is to have a compassionate caregiver.
We'll be praying for you and LO and for a miracle!
A friend of mine went through something similar (the beginning of her story sounds a lot like what you're going through at the moment) and has a tremendous heart! I would suggest reading through her journey (she has a blog: sgirl79.blogspot.com). She also is on The Bump occasionally: CoolTeacher79 and would be a great resource and support.
2 years of TTC, Seeing RE Feb 09, 2 medicated TI cycles - BFNs, 3 medicated IUIs - BFNs, back to medicated TI cycles until IVF approval, IVF approved in March 2010. BFP on last medicated TI cycle.
I am so glad that you had compassionate people at the office. I will be praying for your CVS and FISH results!
I am so happy you found someone who care about what you're going through! Before DS 1's heart defect was properly diagnosed I was told that terminating the pregnancy might be in our best interest, and when I started to cry the doctor just looked at me and my DH like we were making a ridiculous scene and rushed us out into the waiting room while I was sobbing. I honestly think some doctors couldn't care less, and I'm so sorry you had to go through that!
I'm glad to hear they are giving your LO a chance now. After everything we went through with our son's heart and being told he would never have a chance, we continued to believe in him. He defied the odds so many times, and I'm praying your LO will too!
I'll be praying for you, and your LO and DH. I wish you didn't have to go through this!
