Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I did figure out a gift for DH's birthday.

In the midst of my sewing frenzy I did figure out what to do for DH's birthday.

He had a slew of shirts he brought back from all of his deployments (DH was in the Air Force). These shirts were in pitiful shape and no way will DH wear them again. I took the patches and logos and made him a quilt. I thought it could have looked better but that's the perfectionist in me.

He loved it!! He took it to work to show it off to everyone. I had to iron the patches and logos down onto fusible material so they wouldn't tear when I sewed them. It didn't turn out as big as I wanted it to but DH said he's going to hang it on his wall at work.

To the ladies who suggested a picnic. I totally planned on it as I stopped by Popeyes to get a meal for us and the kids....MIL had to whine her way in to coming over so she wouldn't miss out. We never left the house but now that the inlaws left, we'll have to do the picnic soon.

It sounds awesome! DH is a former Marine and has a bunch of old coats and shirts and such in a closet upstairs. I suggested sending them to my sister that quilts and doing the same, but he didn't reply. Maybe if I see how yours turned out I could convince him and get my hall closet storage space back! lol

My Dad is a former Marine as well. Semper Fi!
I think they get territorial about their stuff, LOL. I just asked DH to email me a pic of his quilt. I used a sand colored material with tiny American Flags for the back of it. Since he spent most of his deployments in the sand I figured that would work. All of the logos are different, none of them match, I think it looks weird but he loves it. One shirt was an ugly hawaiian print and I wanted to burn it. DH freaked NOOO! I have to have it on there. So I used it for a background of the smaller patches so I wouldn't have to look at it as much.

Once DH gets me the pic I will post it in my siggy.

DH has something similar, except it's a super long stone-washed denim coat!!! LOL. I don't even know why he has it...but it's up in that closet in the "do not touch" zone.

YOU can use 'some' of the items. I will pick them out when I get home. Some are sentimental and if we use them, I want to know what we are using. It is a cool idea. Thanks for reminding me.

Maybe I should make it with some fishing line, the staple gun, a pair of pliars and a blowtorch.

Oh wait, lets get your sister to do it.
