Forgive me for copy and posting from my blog, but this is a rather lengthy post with all pics in order etc. Hope you enjoy, I am really having a blast getting Lochlan's nursery together.
Tonight after studying for a little while I took up my latest craft project for Baby Laffitte, now PERMANENTLY Baby Lochlan.
I purchased some wooden letters from Hobby Lobby, as well as some scrapbook paper. I was able to find some really cute paper that matched the DIY art color scheme that we already have going.
Step 1: Gather the material to create your letters. (Letters $2.99/pc, scrapbook paper $0.35/ 12x12 sheet, exacto knife $3.00 and spray adhesive $7.50) So all in all for this project I spent around $35 give or take.
Step 2: Cut a portion of the scrapbook paper off allowing enough room for your letter.
Step 3: Spray the portion of paper with the spray adhesive and allow to get tacky feeling to touch (depending on your adhesive, mine was about 15-30 secs).
Step 4: Attach the letter to the paper making sure that there aren't any crinkles in the paper, and that you are applying the paper to the correct side of the letter
Step 5: Trim off the excess paper with an exacto knife, and Voila! DIY letters that YOU decorated.
I am absolutely in LOVE with these letters, and they were so much cheaper than purchasing some from online most of the ones I liked were $15 a piece.
I'm probably going to super glue the letters onto a flat piece of board so that they will stand up, have stability, and sit in a row on top of the hutch. Or maybe I will attach them to the wall. Here is the finished project showcased in our awesome apple green hutch and double dresser.
My next project is to make Closet Dividers to separate the different sizes of clothes in his closet. I plan to have 4 different hangers, delegating one to 0-3mo, 3-6mo, 6-9mo, and 9-12 mo. I hope to be able to find removable sticky foam letters that I will be able to replace as Lochlan grows, instead of having to make new ones each time, I can just replace the numbers for the sizing. Here is what the separators will look like, two Owl's and two Tree's.
I am almost finished with the DIY owl artwork so those will go up on the walls this weekend!!
Re: (PiP) How to DIY Wooden Letters and Closet Dividers
Love them! Great ideas!!
Do you have a link to your blog so I can bookmark this for when I'm ready for the project??
Thanks!!
Very creative and inspiring! Thanks for sharing!
Sure here's the link to my Blog, if you want to make them later.

MM, I know, I got the idea from someone doing them on here. Even though I will be the only one that sees whats in the closet, it was too cheap not to do them. The wooden cutout was $1 and the owl/tree dicuts were $0.67. Hobby Lobby is like walking into a black hole lol....sucks my money out of my pocket.
Very, very cute!
I also made closet dividers for LO's clothes. I bought a package of 8 foam door hangers and a big book of peel & stick foam letters/numbers. Mine aren't as cute as yours, they need a little jazzing up. But it was a quick, easy project even non-crafty people could do with no problem.
