Bloody Mucus in Diaper

First let me say that I called the ped and we have an appt at 7 pm tonight - they're first available. So in the meantime I thought I'd see if any of your LOs have had this. Yesterday DD had 4 bms (about double her usual) and it was a bit greener and seedier than normal. She just had her third bm of the day and it was mostly bloody mucus w/ a small amount of brown, seedy poop. She also has her first cold - congested snotty nose - and I feel like the worst mother in the world - she's only 12 weeks old! She had her first day of daycare last week as a trial and coincidence or not she was congested that night. To see my precious baby sick kills me. Sorry for the digression - just wondering about the bloody mucas as the books say it could be minor OR severe...thanks.

I actually just got off the phone with my pediatrician's office about this. DS had some red blood in his stool on Friday and we brought him in to be checked out. They did lab work which confirmed it was blood, but not an infection. He had several big BM's in a row before the blood showed up so the doctor is going to treat it as a fissure since there hasn't been any more blood since that diaper.

Some things the doctor checked for when they examined him were if his stomach was soft, if he was in pain when she pressed on his belly, if there was any obvious bleeding on his bum, and she asked if he was eating or acting different.

We had seediness and blood/mucous in his diaper and it led us to a milk and soy protein allergy diagnosis.
