What I have found on the internet is both ways, about 50 percent of the time. Trying to figure out what day to use to start my new ticker on, but this cycle for me it was only a difference of two days so not a big deal. Just means DH gets an extra two days of guaranteed sex
In my world, brown means it's old... so possibly from the previous month (although not sure how that would be possible). I've never had brown spotting before though so I'm certainly not an expert. I picked first day of red.

I totally see your reasoning on this one. I don't see why it couldn't be from the previous month if your cervix closes before absolutely everything is expelled from the uterus. Or the initial drainage is so slow that it turns brown before it finally comes out of the vagina?
I read it was the first day of actual blood. I usually spot a little the day or two before but when I started keeping track of my cycles for baby #2 I counted the day I actually started bleeding.

This is what I'm going to start using for ticker and tracking purposes. I guess it is really the only consistant for sure way of saying "ok it's started now" since I guess you could have random discharge for days for any number of reasons.
all the fertility resources I have read said first day of red flow. I used fertility friend while ttc and if I ever inputted spotting it did not restart the next cycle- only when you actually inputted flow- so I would go with that.

Re: What do you consider as "Day 1" of your cycle? (clicky poll)
I'm so glad you asked this!! I have also been wondering and have also found conflicting info.
So I chose SS
