I am wracking my brain trying to figure out what would make it a bad set. And I didn't read any other responses before replying (to give you an honest fresh answer)...
Grey's Anatomy...BUT, Grey's won't be around forever and shouldn't be the reason not to name a child something...when they are in 8th grade their friends will not make fun of them for it!
Sloane Peterson? Your father called. Your grandmother has just passed.
(From Ferris Beuller. NMS at all.)
This. I don't see the attraction to this name at all.
However, if you love the name and want to use it, I don't see anything wrong with pairing it as a sibling name with Reid. I don't watch Grey's anymore, so the only thing that came to mind is that they are both relatively common surnames.
Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!
I love the name Sloan (Sloane?) for a girl. It was almost my name. And I've never watched Grey's, so I had no idea of the connection until I skimmed through PP.
Fortunately, I was able to detach myself from my Grey's addiction after Season 2. I'm guessing these characters came along after that, since I don't remember them. (Or is it one character named Reid Sloane?) Like I said, it's been a while, so maybe I'm just not remembering.
Either way, if this many people immediately think of Grey's, I wouldn't do it if I were you. But that's just me.
PS: I'm pretty sure the more traditional/generally accepted spelling is Sloane. I'm only telling you this so that, in case you do decide to use it, you will have this information available to make the best decision for your child.
DH loves loves loves Sloane. I think a lot of guys love it, maybe because of the Ferris Bueller connection. Also, there's a hot Sloane on Entourage. I like Sloane, but not enough to use it myself.
The first thing I thought when I saw the two names was "Those are pretty cool boy names, though spelled a little oddly."
Then I read the rest of the post a realized they were intended to be for girls.
I've seen Ferris Bueller tons of times, but the name Sloane for the girl doesn't register, and I've never seen Grey's. So from someone who doesn't watch much TV - I'd think you had just had twin boys if I heard those names.

BTW, I LOVE the name Reid but not so much Sloan

I'm sorry, but I think the same thing.
I don't know why, but I think of an old, slicked by hair, type of guy with the name Sloan. But that is just my opinion.

Thanks ladies!!
I thought the first thing that would come to mind would be Grey's, but the poster who said that Grey's wouldn't be around forever is right.
I'm not 100% sold on Sloane just yet, it's my flavour of the week right now.
Thanks again!
Sorry, but this is where my mind went too.
