Why is feeling great making me feel nutty? Input needed!

Hi guys,

Have to vent to check my sanity.

I'm 8 weeks today and have several symptoms (very, very tender breasts, dizziness when I stand up too fast, fatigue, extreme moodiness, bloat) but no m/s. I guess, bc I was SO sick when I was preg with my DD, this feels weird to me. I was SO sick. I lost 25 pounds in my first trimester with DD. That's sick, right?

I've read everything and fully understand that every pregnancy is different, but I am so looking forward to my planned u/s on Thursday. I just want to know if things are really going on in there, you know?

Tell me, am I nuts? Do you feel the same- like it's "not real"?

For those of you who've seen your LO's heartbeat, did you "feel pregnant" beforehand or just after the u/s?

Signed,

Usually Normal Girl Feeling Nutty

  • I'm with you. I keep telling myself that it's GOOOOOD not to be sick and to barely have any symptoms.. but until I hear that heartbeat, I won't relax.  I was like this with my first 2 as well!  You're not alone in your worries!

  • I saw the heartbeat last week and still dont feel pregnant!
  • I could have written this....I don't think I'll breathe easy until I see/hear a heartbeat.
  • I feel exactly the same way!! I have no m/s and really no symptoms, except sore boobs and maybe feel a dizzy spell (rarely though) i'm 5 weeks 4 days. (maybe it's too early?) I am so anxious about everything.  This is my 1st and can't wait to hear the heartbeat!! I can't believe it is real! I guess we're not alone. Good luck!

  • I've been feeling great, basically no symptoms except tired and sore breasts.  We saw the heartbeat on Friday and I still feel like it's not real.  Just nervously waiting for the weeks to pass until we're closer to 11-12 weeks... I think then I'll feel better and less nervous.
  • I am feeling this way too!!!  I have had 2 rounds of heartburn but no M/S!  It is great because we got to hear the baby's heart beat this last week!

  • I'm exactly 8 weeks too and I feel the same way I get a little nausea if I wait too long between meals etc.  I'm also freaking out bc I was planning to tell my whole family today but last night I was very lightly spotting and today i poas and the line was really light.  I think and hope because it was a rapid result and I took it late in the afternoon.  I have a dr appt on friday so hopefully that will go well I will feel so much better when that is over.  Anyways my point is.... You're not alone I feel nutty too!

  • I've had almost every symptom in the book, especially m/s, and it still didn't seem real until my 2nd ultrasound (even though we saw the heartbeat at the first.) For some reason, it didn't really sink in until then. That was last Friday, at 8 weeks.

  • Good luck at your first ultrasound!  It will make a huge difference.

I feel sick only occasionally and was really worried the day of my first ultrasound at 7 weeks.  The tech found the baby within seconds, and I just started bawling!  We saw the heartbeat, and it made it so real.  Since then we've been talking more freely about the baby and I've been able to relax.

BUT I'm still only sick about one day a week.  Sometimes I worry that means something's wrong.  Then exhaustion kicks in, or I get a little nauseated and it makes me stop worrying.

  • You are not alone! It's still early for me, too, and I didn't get sick until 8 weeks or so and sore breasts until 6 weeks, but, I can't help but worry. I don't "feel" PG yet either. So ready for that first US in a couple of weeks.
  • Right there with you!  I am much more nervous this time around b/c my symptoms thus far have been really mild compared to my first PG.  The only things that have been really different are that I am super hungry and super tired.  With my first I had all the textbook symptoms...My U/S can't get here soon enough!  I have to wait until the 9th....
  • Had our first ultrasound on Friday, dog said everything looked good and the hearbeat was fast - tried to show both me and DH, we said we could see it, but we couldn't! (Felt like Rachel in that one episode of Friends - I could see the baby though!).  I feel a lot better having a visual confirmation and the doctor's expertise on the heartbeat being there, but it all is still a little surreal.  I have some queasiness, especially if I wait too long to eat, lots of food aversions, bloating, serious exhaustion, and sore breasts, but I still keep wondering if it is real.  Keep looking at the pictures of the "peanut" for reassurance now!
