Numbness after C/s or surgery sites

Okay so i haven't had a c/s but I had major abdominal surgery in March and I have a few questions for you c/s ladies since my scar is quite similar to yours.

My skin is pretty numb to the touch around my incision lines. I talked to my doctor and he said it was completely normal, so I'm not worried about anything health-wise. I'm just wondering how long it took for you to regain sensation if you experienced numbness. My numbness is slowly getting better but i wanted some other opinions from you ladies!

Anyone experience something similar, and if so how long before you regained sensation?

  • My scar and the surrounding area still has some numb spots, 5 years later. It's normal :)

  • Very normal.  Although it's not as numb as it used to be, there are still some spots where I still have numbness.

  • It's funny b/c it's totally not something I would have expected!  Nowhere was I told (or at least remember being told) that I could be numb for years afterwards. Not that it bothers me. It's just weird :) Thanks ladies!

  • I have my c/s scar and a pretty major scar on my foot from two surgeries. The second foot surgery was 3 years ago, my c/s two years ago and they're both still pretty numb.

It's totally normal. The nerves get jacked up when they're cut, and they almost never grow back normally.

  • When I had my c with DD, i never totally got all the feeling back in that area. & a year ago having DS I am still numb in most of that area.

  • Hey there -

Well, I had a c/s 18mos ago, and I still have numbness, but it is better.  I guess I am assuming I will never feel completely "normal" at the incision site, but I am less aware of it.

  • I'm still numb on my scar and right above it

  • My husband had surgery on his foot & it is numb now. He said thats one of the things they don't mention about surgery. They cut those nerves when they cut & those nerves don't really connect again. Causing numbness. No matter where the surgery was on your body. Never thought of it but it makes sense.
