Anyone have to do this?
My pediatrician switched my daughters formula from the one to the other and now she is having issues with pooping...but the doctor said it is the after effects of the similac...that she was allergic to that and now she is getting rid of the "bad stuff"....just curious if anyone had issues with formula switching...
Good news is...less gas (no pain), doesn't eat as fast (or as much though) and seems more content without the gas...
Re: Formula Switch: Similac to Nutramigen
Thanks!
My baby is only a month old and it makes me sad to watch her strain to poop. But the doctor said I have to give it a few more days....that it is an allergy to the SIMILAC that is working itself out of her system.
We were switched from Similac to Nutramigen. I must admit things are a lot better. It took her a little while to get used to this formula, but now it's much better for her. She burps more easily and her bowel movements are regular. Gas is also no longer a problem for us.
I must admit I was not pleased with the taste of Nutramigen in comparison to Similac soy, but my LO doesn't seem to mind.
My DD also goes 5-6 times a day on Nutramigen (she would only go 1-2 times on regular formula). I think it's normal because the formula is hypoallergenic and pre-digested.
Your LO might be spitting up because it's thinner. Most reflux mamas who use Nutramigen end up having to thicken it with rice.
My LO hated it, wouldn't drink it, got worse gas, and it didn't do much for her. :
I too thought it was thinner.
thanks ladies. My daughter actually has some blood in her stool but the doctor said that is from her allergy to Similac. It seems to be getting better and he said to give it a few more days (so that she is on it a week). It is just so hard to watch her strain to poop. One would think that meant she was allergic to the Nutramigen but he says that is an allergy to the Similac.
