I just purchased a Diva Cup and have found that the stem is irritating the opening of my vagina even with trimming it down to 1/4". The instructions say not to trim it any shorter than this because it may make it difficult to remove. I'm thinking I could probably just grip the base and not have a problem with removal. Seeing as how I am using it for the first time, I am wondering if anyone has cut the stem off and what your thoughts are on not having it. TIA

Re: A question about the Diva Cup
I cut my stem almost all the way off, and I had no trouble getting it back out. My sister cut hers all the way off, and has no trouble either. To make it easier to get out, try squatting. Seems to force it downward a bit. HTH!
I'd first try adjusting how you insert it. That typically does the trick for me. I haven't even trimmed mine. You may have it up too high - it should sit lower than a tampon, so the stem should actually be more around you labia than vagina (although everyone is different, lol).
That said, I don't *think* that I really use the stem to remove...
You should ask on the Eco-Friendly Family board. There are probably more users there.
I got one at our local Whole Foods type of grocery store. I know you can also get them online, but I'd first look at the more crunchy stores in your area.
I LOVE my diva cup. It is so much better than tampons and pads. It's so much cleaner and easier. I really encourange you to try it out.
You can get them at some natural food stores, or online at www.drugstore.com.
I got "instead" which is a throw away version. I bought them for 5.00 a box at Kroger. It's a great option too! Very comfortable, don't have to deal with washing it out, AND you can have sex with it in (can't do that with the diva cup!)
That poster who mentioned the Instead cup is actually the only person I have ever heard say they like it. Interesting.
This site should have everything you ever wanted to know and then some about all kinds of cups. I believe there is a tag for cutting them off too, mine is almost all the way cut off.
