Babies: 3 - 6 Months

three hours and counting

so it's been nearly three hours that LO has been napping.. he normally does 45 minutes at a time - maybe an hour on a good day. He came down with hand-foot-and-mouth earlier this week, so I'm assuming he needs the rest... but will it screw his schedule up? Do I just let him sleep? He was due for a bottle an hour and a half ago!

Re: three hours and counting

  • My DD has done that a couple of times as well (and she normally sleeps 45-60 min on her naps), and I figured she just needed the sleep.  However, a lot of the sleeping books say you shouldn't let your infant nap longer than 3 hours during the day or it could screw up their night schedule.  Not sure if this stays true though if they have been sick...

  • I would let him sleep.  He obviously needs it.  In my experience it doesn't affect nighttime that much.

  • he started stirring, so DH took advantage and got him. I think he wouldve went back to sleep though! He's wayyyy due for a bottle, though it usually takes some time for him to feel like eating after he wakes. oye.
