My husband and I love the name Raleigh for a girl (probably Raleigh Paige or Raleigh Nicole).
Do you think it's the kind of name that when someone hears it, they respond by wrinkling their nose and making a weird face?
Or is it just slightly on the quirky side of normal?
Re: What do you think of this girl name?
Well, I don't know where you live, but I've lived in several states and "Raleigh, NC" is pronounced very differently, depending on the region of origin. So, I think your daughter will be correcting pronunciations, no matter how you prefer for it to be pronounced, for her whole life. For that reason, I don't really recommend it.
But I don't think it's awful. I can see it's appeal, though it isn't my style.
If I heard you say it, I would think that her name was Riley and that you had an accent.

I'm not against unique/different names but I think it is a little too close to Riley (or Rylie).

This. I also think of the city in North Carolina - most likely because I used to live there.

I'm going with the nose wrinkle. Not a fan.

This. I don't know if I'd wrinkle my nose, but I'd be thinking "Really?"
Raleigh like the city?!?! I thought you were being creative in spelling Riley at first. I'm going to have to say no way! Riley Paige, although nms, is a whole lot easier to swallow than Raleigh.
And Nicole is terribly outdated.

Will it be pronounced Rah-lee like the city or Ray-lee?
Either way, I'm not a huge fan.
LOL, what she said. How about Paige Riley?
