  • 1. Is this your 1st, 2nd, 3rd....child? My first biological child, but I'm already a stepmom to three (13-boy, 12-girl, 7-boy).  2. What do you do for a living? I'm a SAHM since the kids moved in fulltime a year ago. Before that I was a toddler teacher. I have been in the process of starting my own allergy-sensitive baking business for the past year.  3. What does DH (or significant other) do for a living? He manages a team of computer engineers at a well known financial services firm on Wall Street. 4. Do you plan to continue working after LO arrives? Well, to be fair, raising four children is more work than some people do... but yes, I will continue to pursue my catering career.5. Do you consider yourself lower, middle, or upper class (in terms of income, not style Wink)? Hmmm... middle? We are not upper class, although I feel that we are incredibly fortunate to have what we do. 6. How will your lifestyle and finances change once LO arrives? (chores, exeercise, daycare, etc.) Everything will change, then again, everything is about to change for us in a few weeks as the kids' mother is moving four hours away, and visitation will be changing. On the chance that we do get time to ourselves there will be much less eating out, going to movies, and obviously we will not be taking a baby to a bar. Having a baby will not stop us from traveling or going on day trips, though.

Dh will work at night and I'll work in the day (just for a little bit). Not looking forward to it but glad one of us will always be with our little guy.

  • 1. Is this your 1st, 2nd, 3rd....child?first  2. What do you do for a living?I'm a certified elementary teacher- right now I working part time as a tutor and plan to substitute teach as well. 3. What does DH (or significant other) do for a living? He is currently earning his PhD in Physiology. In English and in shorthand,  that means he is paid to work on research involving cells and clinical depression.  4. Do you plan to continue working after LO arrives? I will take off around 6 months. I may start tutoring again next spring or summer, then hope to get a full time teaching job for fall.5. Do you consider yourself lower, middle, or upper class (in terms of income, not style Wink)? Not sure how we would be categorized. I don't think of us as lower income, we do well with what we have, but , we are  definitely on a budget. I am a recent graduate and DH has a couple years left so we haven't really gotten started on our careers yet.6. How will your lifestyle and finances change once LO arrives? (chores, exeercise, daycare, etc.)  We'll be on a tight budget for sure during the time I am not working anymore. I'm all about coupons. One of my worst habits is wanting to eat out-I'm sure that will be nonexistent for awhile! We'll cut back on everything extra we can during that time. Then when/if I can full time teach, we'll have a significantly higher income to help balance daycare costs.

I am an online editor for a magazine, so I post articles and other stuff on the website and also put together two newsletters.

     3. What does DH (or significant other) do for a living?

He works in admissions at a working adult college (similar to University of Phoenix)

     4. Do you plan to continue working after LO arrives?

Oh yes. I'm the breadwinner! lol

    5. Do you consider yourself lower, middle, or upper class (in terms of income, not style Wink)?

    Middle

    6. How will your lifestyle and finances change once LO arrives? (chores, exeercise, daycare, etc.)

Do you have enough time for my list? lol To be honest, ever since our wedding, DH and I really don't spend much money anyway. We go out to eat every once in a while and most of our trips are to go home and visit family. I really can't see either of those changing.

I plan to exercise more and we already kind of split the chores up so that won't be hard either. We're still working out daycare but more than likely, I'll be dropping him off and picking him up since I usually get off work before DH.

    6. How will your lifestyle and finances change once LO arrives? (chores, exeercise, daycare, etc.) I think we will be spending less money going out partly because we will be spending more money on LO and partly because we will want to stay home with LO (we're homebodies already). I think I will really, really have to force myself to work out... I plan to walk a lot with LO and do some mommy and me yoga classes. Hopefully we won't need any daycare because I'll be working part time and my dad has been begging me to let him take LO whenever I'm not working. If I feel like its a bit much for him though I will be looking into one or two days a week for daycare which I am ok with.

We're doing long distance right now so I'm living with my parents. If he retires, he will be moving up here and we will struggle on our own. As for daycare, we both have our mothers who will watch LO.

  • 1. Is this your 1st, 2nd, 3rd....child?  This is our first

     2. What do you do for a living?  Teacher

     3. What does DH (or significant other) do for a living?  Teacher

     4. Do you plan to continue working after LO arrives?  Yes, not really because I have to, but because I want to.  Luckily I'll be able to take off from when baby arrives to the following school year (6-7 months).  We both really like having the extra income because it allows us to do things we probably wouldn't be able to if I became a SAHM, and I'll probably want some adult interaction once the baby is a little older.

    5. Do you consider yourself lower, middle, or upper class (in terms of income, not style Wink)?  Middle ... would be on the line of Middle/Upper class if I didn't have all these student loans!!  Grrr!!

    6. How will your lifestyle and finances change once LO arrives? (chores, exeercise, daycare, etc.)  Everyone's lifestyle changes once a baby comes into the picture, unless you're Angelina Jolie or something like that.  You can't just "pick up and go" anymore.  Things need to be a little bit more planned and can't be so spontaneous.

As for finance changes, I think we'll be a little bit more frugal with what we're spending our money on.  We're already pretty much set in that department, but we also want to start a college fund for LO, so a nice chunk of our income will go to that.

Chores will most likely be my job when I'm home with the baby, but I have no doubt that the hubby will chip in.  He has been so unbelievable these past few months!!  Exercise is a must for me once LO is born!!  My husband has continued with his routine, but I've basically stopped.  I've always been an athlete, so getting back into shape after baby comes isn't a concern of mine.  Daycare isn't going to be an issue here either.  I'd much rather keep my child out of daycare because #1 - it's expensive and #2 - I don't think I'd trust a stranger with my child.  Luckily my MIL will be moving closer to watch the baby during the day so we're both able to continue working.

    5. Middle, I suppose I don't really know the cut off point. Although it sure doesn't feel like we're in middle......

     6. Honestly it didn't THAT much after having dd. I bfed for over a year so we didn't have to buy formula, didn't need to do daycare. The biggest expense for us is clothes, there are just too many cute clothes for girls. lol. Lifestyle didn't change much day to day. But we def. don't go out as much as we used to, which is a little sad.

    6. We both plan to stay active as we are today, hopefully even a little more with a little one running around. Finances, staying about the same, we will have daycare expenses but not going out like we do now will probably even that out
