2nd Trimester

Wake up Freezing?

No matter what I wear to bed (last night it was flannel PJs and socks under 3 blankets) at least 3 nights per week, I get so cold that I shiver so violently that it wakes up my husband who normally sleeps so soundly that it takes a bomb going off to wake him.  And, while this has been going on throughout my pregnancy, it seems to only be getting worse as the pregnancy goes along.

Is this happening to anyone else?

  • I had the same exact thing up unto 18 weeks.  My doctor said it was caused by hormone surges.

  • No I haven't had this problem, I would talk to your OB.

If it turns out to not be anything real serious, I'll trade you, I'm sleeping practically naked with no blankets and the AC and fan on, and I'm HOT!!! I'm so over the Arizona heat!

Thanks!  That makes me feel better. The first time it happened I was so cold I thought for sure I was going to wake up and see a ghost standing by my bed, a la The Sixth Sense, lol.

That's a good idea.  I have an appt with my OB in a few weeks.  If it has subsided by then, I'll probably bring it up then :)

  • I get night sweats and wake up freezing but that only happens if I eat to close to bed, have caffine or sugar before bed.

But I have been both really hot or really cold - it's the hormones.
