DH and I like this name and don't hear it very often. What do you ladies think? Is it classic and beautiful or dowdy and dated?

I can see it as a name she grows into but struggle calling her that as a child.

Helen is a little dated, IMO. What about Helena? That's a little "fresher" sounding, I think.

I like it. I do prefer Helena, but like Helen as well.

Helen is a lovely name. And it's certainly not any more dated than Emma, Charlotte, or Nora (and you can bet it won't be as dating as Addison or Brayden).

This is what I was thinking...I saw Helena Bonham Carter the other night on something and thought "I like the name Helena."

OMG I LOVE Helena. Thank you for the suggestion, it does sound a lot fresher and very feminine. I love it thank you so much!!

The face that launched a thousand ships.... it is a beautiful name. I agree with PP it is no more dated than Charlotte, Eleanor or Evelyn and many of the other popular names.

DD has a friend that is a Helen. I wasn't in love with the name but it really works for her. You could always give a 'trendier' middle name so she has the option to go by that when she is 'too cool' for Helen.
