Stay at Home Moms

Is this idea stupid?

I live in a nice town with an okay school system.

DS is way to young to be in school, but I can't help but feel I want to move to where DH and I grew up.  Our family still has a home there, and the public school systems are tried and true.  We also have close friends and family within driving (not flying) distance.  Both our hearts are in the town too.

It wouldn't be bad to stay, and in actuality, to root up and move is just not in the cards right now.  DH has a stable job and is well paid. So there isn't a set reason right now for us to move.

But I can't help but think of it...why?   Nostagia..geez.  Anyone else feel that way?

  • Nope! LOL! I have no desire to move back to where I grew up with a family. I love where we are right now........

  • I never thought I would.. but we just bought a house in my hometown last month!  I am beyond thrilled.  My kids will go to my elementary school!
  • I HATE where we live now so yes I think about moving back to where we both grew up all the time. It would be great to be back near family and our close friends. The school system there is not the greatest but better than where we are now. We will only be here for a few more months though and then will be moving for DH's job. I am hoping the next place we move is better than where we are now.

  • I think about it, yes...but that's because my parents live on the river and it's like going to a resort every time we go. DH loves my parents and loves them being on the water, as well. If we bought a house there, we'd be living on the water (who wouldn't love that?!?). However, that would be nice for us and sometimes for our children, especially when they're younger. I can't make myself do it though since I absolutely hated my parents for making us live in such a boring town while I was growing up. They still "cruise the strip" on Friday and Saturday nights for entertainment...Confused

  • I live in the same town as my family and where I grew up. we love it here and would hate move. The school system is excellent and I know all of the small business owners, teachers, workers etc.
  • We live only about 15 minutes from where DH and I both grew up (we met in middle school).  In fact, we purchased DH's grandmother's house when she passed away.  I love that I know all the history of our house and that DS is growing up in the same bedroom that his Pop-Pop grew up in.  I also love the idea of showing DS where we both grew up, went to school, playgrounds we used to play in, etc.  I can definitely see where I would get nostalgic if we ever had to move away.
  • I absolutely feel that way!  DH and I plan to move back to New England (and ideally Maine, where I grew up) in about 3-5 years.  It's not in the cards to move now, but being close to family is my highest priority for the future.
