Diaper Champ vs. Diaper Genie

So I've always heard about the Diaper Genie Elite, but now I have a couple friends saying that they are hearing better things about the Diaper Champ, especially because you can use your own trash bags.

Has anyone heard anything like that? Or used both and prefer one or the other?

    We had a diaper genie initially (someone gave it to us), but we have since switched to a small trash can.  The inserts for the Genie are really expensive, they do last a while, but IMO the smell containment of a closed trash can is about the same.  Even the genie starts smelling funny if the diapers have been in there for a long time.

    We have used a Diaper Champ for over 3 yrs now and I love it. I think the smell containment is comparable to a Genie, and it is a lot cheaper to use because of using trash bags you already have.

    We went with the Diaper Champ because we're CDing, so the Genie didn't make sense. Even if we weren't, I'd still pick the DC because it doesn't require expensive bag refills.

    We use the Diaper Champ and love it.  It can get smelly after a while (just when and right after flipping the top over), but we solved that by spraying a bit of air freshener in when we change the bag.  Not a big deal at all.

    We got a diaper genie for free and got tired of buying the refills, so we bought a diaper champ.   It's much more convenient to use regular trash bags than those special refills. 

    One of the keys to keeping the smell down is to make sure solid waste goes in the toilet.  You're supposed to do that anyway, but I know not everyone does.  Pee will reek regardless after a few days, but the champ does a pretty good job of keeping that in.  I say it farts when you open it,but it doesn't just sit there, reeeking.

    Diaper Champ oh how I love theeStick out tongue.  Everyone I know that had the Genie switched to either a trash can or the Champ.  The smell is something that a clorox wipe every other month around the drop slot and air freshner in the can every trash change fix.
